Two Poems by William Wright Harris

self-portrait in hell
flames lick
          at munch’s
                    naked frame
smoke and ash
         darken
                  his hair
face staring
         out from
                   canvas
eyes somehow
         indifferent
                   to the fires
but in
         agony
                   nonetheless
